My Back to School Promise

Each day I'll do my best,

And I won't do any less.

My work will always please me,

And I won't accept a mess.

I'll color very carefully,

My writing will be neat.

And I simply won't be happy

"Til my papers are complete.

I'll always do my homework,

And I'll try on every test.

And I won't forget my promise-

 To do my very best!

Falling Leaves

Autumn leaves
Come falling down.
Red, yellow, orange, and brown.
Down, down, down.

Down! Down!
Yellow and brown.
The leaves are
falling all over town.

Don't put a face on my pumpkin.
Don't give him eyes that shine.
No, don't put a face on my pumpkin,
Not on mine, I like it fine.

Looking mean on Halloween
Is really not my style.
So don't put a face on my pumpkin,
Unless you make it smile!

When you see someone in a uniform,
Someone who serves us all,
Doing military duty,

Answering their country's call,

Take a moment to thank them
For protecting what you hold dear;
Tell them you are proud of them;
Make it very clear.

Just tap them on the shoulder,
Give a smile, and say,
"Thanks for what you're doing
To keep us safe in the USA!"

I'm Tom Turkey,
And I'm scared as can be!
I'm gonna find a disguise,
So you can't catch me!

Isn't it the strangest thing,
That Santa is so shy?
And we can never catch him,
No matter how we try.

It isn't any use to watch,
Because my parents said:
"Santa Claus will only come
When children are in bed!"

   I'm a little snowflake,
You can see,
No other snowflake,
Looks like me!

Please pick me up,
After I fall,
And roll me with my friends,
To make a snowball!

   It begins with a grin,
Then turns to a giggle,
You start to laugh,
And your legs start to wiggle!

You look around,
for someone to hug,
You might be contagious!
You've caught the love bug!

   "Today you are you,
that is truer than true.
There is no one alive
who is Youer than You."

"Be who YOU are,
 and say what YOU feel,
because those who mind don't matter
and those who matter don't mind."

"You have BRAINS in your HEAD.
You have FEET in your SHOES.
You can STEER yourself in
any DIRECTION you CHOOSE."

Leprechaun pie, Leprechaun pie,
If I don't get some,
I think I'm gonna die.
Give away my pot of gold,
Give away the sky,
But don't give away
My Leprechaun Pie!

The wind told the grass,
And the grass told the trees.  The trees told the flowers,
And the flowers told the bees.

The bees told the robin,
And the robin sang with cheer,
"Wake up! Wake up! It's springtime!
Wake up cause Spring is here!"

  Mom's recipe for Love

Take a cup or two of laughter,
And a pinch of good advice.
Pour in patience by the bowlful,
And then stir it once or twice.

Fold in lots of hugs and kisses,

And a mother's gentle care.
Then cook it 'til it's nice and warm,
And spread it everywhere.
A mother's love is special...
It cannot help but show.
Like flowers in a garden,

Her love makes children grow.

Happy Mother's Day!

  HAVE A GREAT SUMMER!
I'm glad I was your teacher
I've come to love you so.
I can't believe the end is here.
I hate to see you go.

Remember all the fun we had
In all the things we did.
But most of all remember ...
You're a Very Special Kid!
    Love,
Mrs. Smalley

  Oh, say can you see,
By the dawn's early light,
what so proudly we hailed,
at the twilight's last gleaming?

Whose broad stripes and bright stars,
through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched,
were so gallantly streaming;

And the rockets' red glare,
the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night
that our flag was still there;

O say, does that Star-Spangled
Banner yet wave,

O'er the land of the free,
and the home of the brave?
